DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE 4:il, MW€W*@W@M It301 .99 refi La s Cruc€s , New l'fexico 8800 3 Vol. l8 No. B August 3l, 1977 LIGHT AND DAY LENGTH Just a reminder that the amount of daylight is declining and this may affect your egg production. This is especially true in open houses. Make sure your time clocks are working properly if they haven't been used for some time. It might be desirab'le to have a spare clock in case one fails to work. This may be replaced rather easily in a few minutes. One should also c'lean the light bulbs frequently to insure the maxi-mum output of light. This may be done by removing the bu'lbs and wiping them with a wet rag in some detergent, then drying them with a clean towel. Be sure the bulbs are cool so they won't break. Several values to use as guidelines based upon the Las Cruces and Albuquerque sun-rise and sunset data obtained from the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington follow. These values are good through 1999 and may vary by not more than 2 minutes from year to year. One hour must be added for Daylight Saving Time. Remember, the longest day of the year 21 each year. Thus it is desirable to make two weeks.
