VERBATIM MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY May 12,2006 1. CALL TO ORDER The Board of Regents of New Mexico State University met in the Regents Room of the Educational Services Center on the New Mexico State University main campus in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Friday, May 12, 2006. President Anaya called the meeting to order at 1 :32 p.m. Regents Present Ex-officio Regents Present Others 2. INTRODUCTIONS Mr. M. Steven Anaya, President Ms. Laura M. Conniff, Vice President Ms. Sherry Kamali, Secretary-Treasurer Mr. Bob Gallagher, Member Mr. Blake Curtis, Member Dr. Larry Creider Ms. Jennifer Burn President Michael Martin Provost William Flores Dr. Pat Williams Senior Vice President Jim McDonough Vice President Rebecca Dukes Interim Associate Provost Bill McCarthy Chief Information Officer Michael Hites Director Maureen Howard Dean Garrey Carruthers Ms. Maureen Howard Mr. Fred Ayers Mr. Michael Rickenbaker Mr. Steve Gift Mr. Steve McCarty Dr. Pat Hynes Ms. Tammy Anthony Ms. Socorro Saenz-Lobato (a) Ms. Maureen Howard stated, "It is my pleasure this afternoon to start by introducing Dolores Connor with the City Council who is with us this afternoon. We also have two members of the press with us. We have Dolores Bernal with the Las Cruces Sun-News and Michael Sears from KRWG-FM." (b) Associate Provost DeNecochea stated, "I am delighted to introduce the incoming leadership of ASNMSU. Standing beside me is Benjamin J. Hardy. He is a junior maj oring in Environmental and Occupational Health with a career obj ective in real estate and law. Born in Germany, Ben spent his formative years in Alamogordo where he was actively involved in student governance, a pursuit that he continued upon enrolling at NMSU as a Crimson Scholar. He has served as an NMSU Senator for the College of Health and Social Services for the past year, during which time he also served on the
