Dear Dr. Tombaugh:
Our spring show at the Burke Baker Planetarium is entitled "The Red Planet Mars." For this show we would
very much like to interview an astronomer whose specialty
is Mars. Drs. Robert and Natalie Kovar of the Manned
Spacecraft Center and the University of Houston respectively hawe recommended you highly as the astronomer that
we should contact.
We would like to film an interview with you for our Mars
show. Dr. Natalie Kovar said that you might have three-
dimensional models which we could use in this film.
If you are interested in such a project, the final
details can easily be worked out later. The Mars show
is scheduled to begin on March 5, 1971. To have the
time necessary to edit the film and complete the show,
we will have to schedule our appointment with you in
January or early February, if this would be at all
convenient.
A large part of our audience is children who already
know of you through your discovery of Pluto. For them,
seeing and hearing you will make learning about Mars
more exciting and meaningful.
Thank you very much for considering this request. If
you have any suggestions for us, they will be most
appreciated.
