Dear kids:
I have been working seven days a week for some time now. That, coupled with the hope of doing some more work with the 12'', has caused me to perpetually delay writing.
Concerning the coming California venture, over which you seem to feel some concern, I shall tell you what little we ourselves know about it. We will leave here a few days after Christmas and I will start in at Caltech the first of January. Two thirds of their school year lies in the two 'quarters' between January 1 and the first part of June. I expect to meet tuition by a $200 student loan. We will arrive in California with enough cash to last us between one and two months. Before this money is gone one or both of us hope to have jobs. We have several good specific prospects, including possibility of my getting a $50 a month job at the Planetarium. Alter thinks he has a way of avoiding the residence requirement, since those who fill jobs having special technical requirements need not be L.A. residents. My work would be special technical photo assignments. [Please don't say anything outside about this.]
