Maurice Abravanel was born in Salonika, Greece, and. was reared. in
lausanner Switzerland, where he first conducted at the age of 15,
He studied in BerLin with Kurt WeilL and conducted. at the Berlin
state Opera. rn 1932 he nade his paris debut as a strmphony coil-ductor.
He was aLso guest conductor of the Paris National Opera
