Receives Approvals

The architectural plans for the new NMSU Library have been approved by the NMSU
Board of Regents, the Commission on Higher Education and the New Mexico State
Board of Finance. The plans and a model of the building are on display in the lobby
of the library. The Library Building Committee is working with the Dean/Krueger
and Associates, Inc. staff, architects for the project, in completing the design development phase of the project. The building project is scheduled to go to bid late August
1990 and completion date is targeted for early 1992.
The 89,011 square foot building will have three floors. Library service points, circulation, reference, and interlibrary loan, will be located on the first floor. The library's
administrative offices will be located on the second floor. Both the second and third
floors will house the book collection and study areas. The periodicals (paper, bound,
and microform) collection will be housed in a Periodicals Room on the first floor. ^_
