On August 1st, the Library consolidated its
online systems into a single network menu.
This new menu replaces three separate logons
for Ubraryservices:OLE,LIBINFO,and NMSU/
INFO.
The new menu boasts several new features
in addition to OLE (NMSUs Library Catalog),
UBINFO (other library catalogs and Internet
services), and NMSU/INFO (Library hours,
etc). An online Interlibrary Loan request form
allows you to request books or photocopies
from other libraries. Just select item three from
the menu and follow the instructions. You will
be notified by E-mail that your request was
received. The Interlibrary Loan office is housed
in the New Library, open 8-6 p.m. Monday
through Friday.
Another new section of the menu entitled
"Whaf s happening in the Library" brings you
up to date on library programs, announcements, new CD-ROM products, workshops,
and displays.
What's in this issue...
Library's collection assessed
NMSU Alumnus rides for Library...

Branson renovation plans set
Finally, access to UNM's library catalog,
LI BROS, is available, along with instructions for
accessing UTEP's online catalog, LUIS.
Plans exist to expand the menu system with
access to: 1) online indexes (e.g. ERIC), 2) electronic journals (e.g. Central American Update), 3)
Library guides (e.g. How to Do Library Research in
Public Administration), 4) full text resources (e.g.
Books In Print), and 5) other local library catalogs
(e.g. Dona Ana Branch library).
NMSU library Information System Menu
To access the library menu from a direct network connection, just type telnet library;
from a modem or TAU, connect to NMSU-Net,
then type library and all the Library's online
services will be displayed on one menu.
