CONNECTIONS ^COLLECTIONS New Mexico State University Library Newsletter Welcome David Myers David Myers joined the NMSU library n May 9,1994 as e dean. He is esponsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the library, handling of personnel matters and control of the library budget. t smZ Before coming to NMSU, he served as the director of the State Historical Society Library in Madispn, Wisconsin. The library, located on tlfejUriiversify of Wisconsin campus, is a major resetfeK library in North American history and public policy. Prior to that, he worked as a reference supervisor at the Library of Congress, where he was also a reference specialist in modern American history. Additionally he has also worked for the Colorado state legisla- Myers earned h& tslchelor degree in history ffotft^fiie**University of Northern Colorado. He also holds a masters in history from the same institution and one in library and information science from the University of Denver. Myers completed graduate work in American history at the University of Michigan in Aim Arbor. His professional interests include library administration, scholarly communication, research strategies, American labor and modem Connections &Collections Branson Renovation Nears Completion Library Development The renovation project at Branson Hall is approximately four months ahead of schedule and could mean that the entire project could be completed during the spring semester. The first phase of the project was completed in late November. The work accomplished during this phase included firewalls being added to the second and third floors, increasing the size of the various floors' balconies, the addition of voice and data lines as well as work on the first and second floors' The second phase of the project includes completing work on the second floor which will house codes and standards, and finishing fourth floor east where the Archives search room and office will be located. This phase will also include the completion of the lobby with new lighting, carpet and refurbished furniture. Some Library departments will be moving to different areas at the completion of the project Government Documents will be/moviirg-to the west side of the second floor while Collection Management will move into second east. Other departmental moves-include the Archive stacks to third east, and Techfiical Services to first east. jKTheBranson renovation project is addressing health and safety issues, j»fo viding functional staff work areas and supplying students and faculty with pleasant study areas," said Special Collections Librarian Cheryl Wilson.
