Augus t. 1961 Dear Dairyman: -- - New Mexico SIal. Un;"e rsity Congratulations to E. E. Anderson on his second retirement. New Mexico dairy industry has been guided for 36 years by his capable leadership. He served for over 32 years 8S extension dairyman. He retired from that position December 31, 1957. Soon after this he was prevailed upon to serve as a "part time" executive secretary for the Dairy Parmer's Assoc:iation. During these three and one half years, the problems have been very grea t in a rapidly changing industry. He has now turned these problems over t.o Charles A. (Bill) Reid. Bill comea to New Medea frOlll Color· ado Springs, where he has 8 dairy herd. Bill is very capable,but he has 8 big job to fill during the next few months. Those of you attending the Dairy Industries banquet 1n A Ibuquerque June 3 heard the story dramatically presented of Andy's work io New Mexico. He has exerted leadership in dairying aince 1925. Best wishes to both Andy and Hae for a happy retirement. They plan to travel this fall. They have a number of new grandchildren to visit. They also plan to visit the Holy Land. Next spring Andy will try to catch some of those "big ones" that have gotten away while he has been so busy with dairy problems. We will miss you but wish you a most enjoyable retirement. Description | The monthly report of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA) was initiated by E.E. Anderson, Extension Dairyman in the 1940s. From the 1960s forward a cooperative report had been prepared jointly by staff members of the NMSU Dairy Department, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Veterinary and sent primarily to dairy herds on test (OS, DHIA, DHIR), County Extension Agents, and Instructors of Vocational Agriculture. The publication of the DHIA report was overseen by Philip Leyendecker, a director of the NMSU Agricultural Extension Service in cooperation with U.S. Department of Agriculture. The title of the report had changed over time; it had a couple of variations, New Mexico Dairy Herd Improvement and Dairy Improvement Notes. This digital collection includes historical issues published between 1961 and 1980. |
