Dear Clyde:
Thanks so much for your prompt reply to my letter and
for your photograph. Certainly the latter doesn't do
you justice, but it will serve the purpose — even
though those of us who know you will miss that sharp
little twinkle in your eyes.
Did you notice that they're killing off Americans in
the mountains of Ecuador this week? You better stick
to Colombia with your satellite searching. Incidentally,
whenever you can talk about the latter I'd love to listen,
I am looking forward to seeing the transparencies of
your Mars pictures. It's hard to realize I have so
little time left to get ready for that lecture. I have
tried to get some stuff out of Lowell, but it has all
been second rate. Nobody there to make prints, they
say.
Joe Chamberlain, head of the Hayden Planetarium, has
gone off on an astronomical research project in the
arctic for six weeks. Think of that when you're battling next summer's heatI
Edna joins me in sending all best wishes to you and
yours.
